For years, David Pasho considered writing about his role in one of the most extraordinary covert operations of the Cold War—Project Azorian, the CIA's secret mission to recover a sunken Soviet submarine from nearly three miles beneath the North Pacific Ocean.
While several books have explored the engineering feat behind the mission, none had revealed the story of the deep seabed mining cover used to conceal its true purpose. As the last surviving member of the small team responsible for developing and maintaining that cover story, David knew it was time to share this unique piece of history.
After moving to Rosepark Retirement Community, David found the time and inspiration to complete his manuscript. Following months of writing, research, and editing, Covering Azorian was published just one year after he joined our community.
Writing a book is an incredible achievement, requiring dedication, perseverance, and passion. We're proud to celebrate David and congratulate him on the publication of Covering Azorian. We are honoured to support him as he shares this milestone with family, friends, fellow residents, and staff.
Congratulations, David!
